Meeting youth where they’re at. Literally.
You’ve probably seen our Outreach team out and about carrying their big orange backpacks. They hang out around Vancouver, walking around, 7 days a week. They’re there, day after day, because Directions cares about connecting with youth even if they’re not quite ready or able to come to the Drop-In Centre or one of our other sites.
Our youth workers don’t push anything on youth and they keep it low-key, but they provide youth with:
snacks, juice, and water
safe smoking and injection kits
hygiene products
help with birth certificate and other ID applications
connections to services (housing, medical, social, and so on)
culture kits
“Outreach provided me with referrals and advocated for me. The meals and food allowed me not to go hungry, and donated items such as clothing and things for my home when I moved in were so nice.”

Next time you see them, come say hi!
At the Drop-In Centre, our Outreach team hosts workshops and activities, including weekly Indigenous cultural art and food activities like drum making, bannock workshops, and more.
